Right, so here goes the obligatory disclaimer, I fully expect this to be useless but I'll go ahead nonetheless. In no particular order:
1. A good forum is a civil forum. Obscenities translate badly over the internet and can cause misunderstandings out of nowhere. The occasional naughty word is alright, but don't abuse that.
2. A forum is a written medium, and as such it pays to be proper and precise. L33t speak is frowned upon, and so is SMS slang. There are no character limits here, so feel free to type "you are" instead of "u r". Good grammar and punctuation are a bonus.
3. In the same mode as #2, do not abuse smileys, images and gifs. Take the time to resize them if they're huge. In general, I'd prefer it if you linked to external images instead of copying them here. These are free forums and I have very little idea what workload they can carry.
4. Be civil, kind and welcoming. I can and will warn/ban users for inflamatory posts. I dislike intensely the kind of teasing/trolling that goes on in other forums. If you've got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all, as my grandma says (or would say if she spoke English).
That is all for now, folks, happy posting!
